Most university graduates search for jobs after earning their degrees. Some of them find employment, while others need to acquire and develop business and technical skills to find decent jobs.

The recent advancements in information and communication technology were the reason behind the rise of what is known as crowdsourcing, which provided new job opportunities all over the world. Freelancing is
one type of crowdsourcing that offers various opportunities in multiple industries. The thousands of university students who graduate annually are
capable of taking part in the freelancing field.

Empowering graduates to target these freelancing opportunities will lead to many benefits, such as reduction in the unemployment rate, access to an
income which in turn would lead to adding value to the national economy.

The main expected outcome from this article is to clarify the factors that motivate and influence the decision to participate in freelancing
marketplaces/platforms based on literature review.
