Making Expo smarter, safer, and greener with IIoT

At Expo 2020 Dubai, Siemens has created the blueprint for a Smart City: The MindSphere Smart City A pp collects, monitors, correlates, and analyzes Expo site data in the cloud as a single source of truth to help drive Expo’s high sustainability goals and KPIs. With more than 130 connected buildings and over 200k sensor data points, it gives Expo’s organizers a single-pane-of-glass view into metrics from the entire Expo infrastructure – and for some subsystems, even the capability to control them.

But the smart city app is just the beginning. That’s why we invite innovative startups and companies to join us in developing the city of the future in the areas of Buildings, Energy, Mobility, Industry, and Water.

What you can expect? Open Innovation at its best!

Register now and submit your idea for an IoT solution. The topics are deliberately very open, so you can give free rein to your creativity. Or maybe your company already has an idea, and just needs the right framework to unleash its full potential?

At the Online Pitch Day, you will present your concept to our jury, who will then decide which teams will be selected to participate in the final hack on-site at Expo 2020 in Dubai – an experience you will never forget!

Why you should apply now

True open innovation

Throughout the whole hackathon, you will be supported by our MindSphere IoT experts from a technology and business perspective. Check in with your mentors regularly and get valuable feedback on your application idea.
No IP transfer

All solutions developed as a result of the hackathon remain the Intellectual Property of the respective teams. Of course, after the hackathon we will be happy to discuss the possibilities of a future collaboration with you – but the decision is fully yours.
Networking & visibility

Step out of the startup crowd and onto the Siemens stage! Your team will not only be represented digitally on the MindSphere website & Siemens social media channels – there will also be networking opportunities with Siemens & partners at the final pitch day.
Trip to Expo 2020 Dubai

As finalists, we will take you directly to the heart of innovation: Expo 2020 Dubai. The one-week hack will take place directly at the event site and is packed with maaaany coding sessions, but also some surprises. A once-in-a-lifetime experience!
