How can we use the know-how of suppliers for Siemens innovations and how do we win over the best? These questions and many more will be addressed in detail at the next DigiSofa. Find here the recording.
DigiSofa – the modern panel discussion
DigiSofa, moderated by Thomas Holzner, is similar to a panel discussion – delivered, since Covid-19, in virtual form direct from the ‘home office’. What sets it apart is the fact that it is unscripted and includes responses to comments from the audience. The format is part of the SCM DigiNetwork, which serves to drive the digital transformation with various projects in procurement.
The Live Event, which is made available free of charge, is now on to its third episode: this time the subject under discussion will be The Supplier Innovation Power – Small levers, big movement.
No way without innovative suppliers!
As leader in patent applications, the search for new, even better solutions is in our genes. We want to keep it that way. But how can we exploit additional know-how potential from the procurement market and how do we attract the best partners for new innovative Siemens solutions?
In order to preserve our role as technology leader, the identification of innovative solutions and trends and their integration into our daily business is a success factor (for more information, see also this article “The Innovation Power”).
In the course of digital transformation, our products and solutions will change far more drastically in the coming years than in the decades before. It would be naïve to believe that this development will not affect our suppliers. After all, we procure a large number of services from the procurement market that make a significant contribution to the value chain.
Innovation has long been a team effort. Those who do not closely involve external partners from the outset are wasting time and valuable expertise.
For the past three years, a team consisting of representatives from all Siemens businesses has been dealing with these and other issues relating to the topic of supplier innovation. They are actively supported by our guests Michael Klinger and Konrad Weichmann from the Supplier Innovation Team.
Our guests for the DigiSofa
Back in 2017, Michael Klinger dedicated himself to initiating and implementing platforms for identifying innovations from the procurement market as well as digital scouting for innovative suppliers. This is because our existing supplier panel often reaches its natural limits when it comes to new technologies. The Supplier Innovation Platform has become the best-known but not the only solution in its offering.
When it comes to driving change, Konrad Weichmann is just the person to speak to: with his vast strategic and operational experience, he knows what it takes to turbocharge the subject of supplier innovation at Siemens. Prior to joining the Supplier Innovation team, he was responsible for service business excellence, in which role he focused on implementing business model innovations, processes and technology concepts for service business Siemens-wide.
