Covid-19 has wreaked havoc to countries across the globe forcing stay-at-home orders, business closures, and busy hospitals. It was determined early that our nation’s hospitals, especially in areas hit the hardest by the virus, would not have enough personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers. It is essential for these workers to have the proper equipment to protect them while they are on the job.
I’ve seen so many examples of manufacturing suppliers and
companies taking action to help. It is great to share the good that is
happening when times feel so dark.
Sencorp Thermoforming, a division of SencorpWhite and a
leading manufacturer of thermoforming equipment for over 50 years, stepped up
when a large PPE manufacturer reached out to them for help. Sencorp’s machine
typically produced consumer products in the plastic industry and they were
being asked for it to quickly adapt to produce face masks. In addition, they
modified the machines quickly to meet demand quickly.
The company retooled two machines in less than a week with
each having the capability to make three million masks per week.
I think Sencorp’s Keith Blackwell captures how many
manufacturers that are stepping up to help feel, “It is not without its
challenges, but we are here to help. There is nothing more important than
keeping our healthcare workers safe. They are the most important resource in
this crisis.”
